A Unique Virtual Conversation with 2020 City Council Candidates

It takes a community … thank you all!

The success of this year’s unique and informative Election Forum is the result of the efforts of so many people.  We’d like to specifically thank the following:

Thank you and best of luck to our candidates. Nancy, Brad, Jeff, Noah and Will.  Thank you for sharing your ideas and visions.  If this year has taught us anything, it is that the job of a councilperson is not easy.  We appreciate your willingness to serve the public.

Also, thank you to Jim Mosher for his insights on Measure Z.

We’d like to thank Alex and Riley for your great job as moderators and for making this adventure fun, enjoyable and informative. They plan to conduct interviews with this year’s  candidates so look for those on their website at GoodMorningNewport.org.

We had a number of people behind the scene that helped with this forum, but no one as much as CdMRA Board Member Paul Blank – thank you for being our technical guru.  We could not have done this without you and we so appreciate your help! Our thanks to additional board members for assisting with all the various components of the forum, such as reviewing and developing questions sent in by our residents, marketing this event, making resident-on-the-street videos, and more including Karen Tringali, Sandie Haskell, Laura Curran, Glenn Highland, Dennis Baker, Paul Bartlau and Nancy Gardner. And we can’t forget to thank our residents and members who submitted so many questions for this event. Of course we did not have time to address each one individually, but many had a common theme and you will see those represented in the video below.

The candidates have spoken.  Now most importantly, it is your turn to vote.  Voting is a right in this country but a privilege that many in the world do not have.  Your vote does matter, especially in local elections.  Remember our last election when one council member won by 32 votes!  This is important – please exercise your right.

Thank you for participating and for watching and we look forward to seeing you all soon!

President, CdMRA President
